Pentecostal History

At the turn of the Century, there was a Great Outpouring of the Holy Spirit that we in the Charismatic Movement and the present day church, has no knowledge . These pioneers of faith were men and women, at their best were filled with Power on High and went out as the scriptures say “...to the ends of the earth…” to bring the Good News of Healing, Deliverance and Salvation to the unknown parts of the world. These is their story.

At the beginning on the century as never before in the history of the world, the was tremendous hunger and thirst for an outpouring of the spirit. Prayer meetings were started and attended by the hungry “...for more of God and His power just as the book of Acts...”

The Revival that started at in Topeka, Kansas at Charles Parham's Bible School, at the midnight of the new year of 1901-the moment that the 20th Century began, has a worldwide impact in Church History...the movement gained momentum and spread across the whole of America. Shortly after that, a young Welshman, was used by the Spirit to bring a refreshing to Wales....this was the year 1904-1905.

Following that in a humble building at 312, Azusa Street, Los Angeles, a little band of praying believers took hold of God in intercession until the blessing of God poured in such a measure that the whole world was influenced. Many of the great name in Pentecostal History were pioneers in this Outpouring of the Spirit. Men such as Smith Wigglesworth, John G Lake, Raymond T Richey, Dr Charles S Price, Vicar Alexander Boddy, Lillians Yeomans, Howard Carter ...etc were some of them who were used of the Lord to turn the "...world upside down..."

Today's moder church must follow their example and wait upon the Lord He endues with Power on High and do the exploits they did for Him. This Our prayer, desire and Vision. Amen

Fellowshipping the Father
:2:4: But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith he loved us,Firstly, it is important for us to know that we are greatly loved by God the Father. We can’t come into any kind of a close personal relationship with some one including our Heavenly Father if we think that person is a mean ogre out to get us. This is totally opposite of the truth, and not at all what our Heavenly Father wants from us.1Jn:4:19: We love him, because he first loved us.It is because He first loved us that He wanted to restore the fellowship that was lost in the Garden of Eden. After all He went to great lengths to redeem us. He certainly wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to redeem us if He wanted to just stick us over in a corner somewhere after it was all said and done would He? The answer is no He wouldn’t!!! He wants to have relationship with us, but He also wants to have true and lasting fellowship with us. Fellowship is based on getting to know someone and to be known by them. It is an intimate sharing one with another. This kind of fellowship doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time. Knowing and understanding a persons wants and desires is something that happens over a period of time. The same is true with our Heavenly Father, once we come into the kingdom we have to take the time to get to know Him. The number one way to get to know Him is by learning of Him in His Word. His Word is the written revelation of Himself. This is the very reason I have such reverence for the Word of God. He choose this method to give us a true revelation of Him. This is the beginning of fellowship, the beginning of getting to know our Heavenly Father. This is truly the desire of our Heavenly Father, for us to know Him and to be known by Him.We can come to a place where we can know our Heavenly Father like this, but it firststarts with us coming unto a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Jn:14:6: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.Jesus is the only way. There is no other way to come to the Father. If you have not accepted Jesus as Lord then you can have no fellowship with the Heavenly Father. Relationship comes first.1 John 1:3. that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. This is the message of the Gospel, this is the good news, we have been reconciled to God the Father through Jesus Christ. We have been reconciled to God by Jesus Christ, but in order to partake of this blood bought Covenant we have to acknowledge Jesus as Lord.2Cor:5:19: To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. If you have already come unto a saving knowledge of Him, then you must realize that His great desire is to get to know you intimately.Fellowship is not the same as relationship. Relationship is another way of saying kinship, or family. Fellowship is the sharing of intimacy. You can be estranged from someone who is a blood relative of yours and not have real fellowship, even though you might be a blood relative. Fellowship is not necessarily the result of kinship.W.E. Vines Greek expository of New Testament words say fellowship is sharing in common. It also denotes “a partaker” or partner. To have communion with. Meaning to have things in common.Another dictionary says partnership, (literally) participation, or (social) intercourse. To share the life of God, to be a partaker of God’s very life.Just because you are now born into the kingdom of God doesn’t mean you know and understand the desires of your Fathers heart or that you know Him intimately, or that you are a partaker and sharer of His life. You might say I am born again, that means I partake of His life. This is true up to a point, every person ever born has a mother and a father and that makes you a partaker of their life doesn’t it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you share their desires or are close to them. This is a reality we could all talk about. We all know of such cases to one degree or another. True fellowship is vital to any healthy relationship. You can not build a trusting relationship with out it. There are some very interesting things about fellowship that I want to look at. Let’s look at John’s first Epistle Chapter 1. He had much to say about fellowship and how important it is for us to walk in it, and for us to come to an understanding of it. He knew the importance of this and how vital it is for every believer. As you read this I want you to understand that John is writing to Christians, people who have already come into relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ.1 John 1:1-10. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.John starts out by saying that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us. The word eternal life is the Greek word translated from Zoë, meaning the life of God. God’s very life was manifested to us, in other words we have been given the chance to be a partaker of the Zoë of God. Then He goes on to say, that the purpose of this was so that we may have fellowship together, and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. If the body of Christ could get a hold of this fact, it would dramatically change the way we act toward one another.John was making the point that if we are fellowshipping together, then we are sharers of God's life together, and in reality our fellowshipping of God’s life was started and initiated by Him, because that fellowship is truly with God and His son Jesus Christ. You can not be a sharer and partaker of the very life of God if He is not involved can you. I realize that sound kind of silly, but I want to make the point that without fellowship we are not partakers of that life and we are not sharing that Life!!! John goes on to say that the reason for this is so that we may have fullness of joy. In this Scripture John talks about light and darkness, and how they are separate from one another. There is no darkness in light at all. If we walk in darkness we break fellowship with God. This is not saying we have lost our salvation, it is saying we have stepped outside of that very Zoë life that is sustaining us. I know this because of what he said in vs. 6. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. He did not say the truth is not in us he said we are not practicing the truth. He is saying that if we step out of that very communion that sustains our life then we have stepped into darkness. The importance of this is must not be minimized. The very life flow is severed. Sin is what causes broken fellowship can only be restored by asking forgiveness. The restoration of fellowship is what allows the blood of Jesus to cleanse us.John said in vs’s. 7 and 8, But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. We are only in the light when we are in fellowship with the Father and with one another. In other words, if we have broken our fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ then we are walking in darkness. If we are not walking in life, then we are walking in death. That is a very sobering thought, and is truly too high a price to pay for some petty grievance. Nothing, is worth that. Then as John went on to say when we are walking in fellowship with one another, that is when the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. WOW!!! It didn’t say when we are walking in fellowship with God the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, it said when we are walking in fellowship one with another the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. They are all tied together, when we step out of fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ, we step out of fellowship with the Father as well, and that causes us to step into a place of darkness and outside of God’s Zoë life. As the Word says in... 2Cor:6:14. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? The answer to that is that there is none!!! But we don’t have to walk that way do we? We know the importance of walking in harmony with our brethren. In the light of this we can see the reason why Jesus said in… Matthew 5:23-24. "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24. "leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. You restore your fellowship with your brother and you have also restored your fellowship with God. I hope this takes on some new significance now.If you’re not sure that you are a child of God, then I would like to invite you to earnestly pray this prayer and come into relationship with Him, The first step you must take to true fellowship.Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, “…and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (Jn.6:37), So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13).I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.” (Ro.10:9,10).I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, “… with the heart one believes to righteousness…” and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21),

Walking as Mere Man

...The Unbelieving Believer...

Here is an unbelieving believer. Though he is the possessor of eternal life- the life of God-yet he lives like as if he has nothing. In the Greek the word life is translated “zoe” which refers to the very life of God, the nature of God. This is the same life that came forth out of the mouth of Jesus and entered the dead body of Lazarus and went into the pits of hell and raises him from the dead. This is the same life that rise up Jairus daughter and healed that women with the issue of blood.

These kinds of believer are just assenters the Word of God. They hear the Word and agree that it is the Word of God but they never seem to possess what the Word says he has. Merely mentally assenting to the scriptures is not good enough. You need to act on the Word as though Jesus stood at you living room speaking to you right now. This brings the believer into a place of dominion and authority. Nothing that is hurled against him can prosper.

The believer then is the possessor just as John 6:47 says, “He that believes has Eternal Life..” He has it now. If fact he entered into this life when he received Jesus as Savior and Lord. He has the riches of His grace, the fullness of His grace, every gifts has been bestowed upon him….he has the fullness of his healing..yet he is sick …he has the fullness of his love ..yet he walk in the flesh..he lives in the consciousness sense of his unworthiness, unfaithfulness and defeat..

Ephesians 3:20

God’s ability is in him, yet this man is talking about his lack of ability, faith and power. God has given him everything but he is not acting on the Word.

The Imprisoned Believer

Jesus came to the earth to give us the new kind of life, a new kind of love, a new kind of faith and a new kind of righteousness. When he uttered that cry from his heart “It is finished…” it means that everything that against mankind was completely eradicated and taken away at the cross and eventually at His ascension on Hig at the right hand of the Father. Today, everyone who believers in Him need not walk in failure or defeat in any area of their lives.

Yet in the Christian World today, we find Christians struggling with sin, habit, sickness and dieases. Poverty and financial lack seems to bring dissatisfaction and turmoil to any Christian home. Christians fighting a sense of unworthiness and guilt that often plagues them. They don’t seem to rise above the circumstances to a place of usefulness in the body of Christ. Where can we find the answers to the many questions that we have?

We believe many in the church are “prisoners in the promised land...” And our purpose is to bring the truth of the finished work in its fullness continuously before the “eyes” of the believer that he will rise and walk in the benefits that rightfully belong to him.

In this study we will find some reasons why God’s people are in defeat in the land of Promise.

The Fruit of the Recreated Spirit

The Fruit-Bearing Branches – Part 1

The fruit that is produced in the life of a man who is a New Creation grows out of his vital connection with the Vine. The recreated spirit that has received the life and the nature of God has the ability to produce the same type of results that Jesus had He was on the earth. The New Creation man is to bear the fruit of the Vine.

The fruit-bearing part of the Vine is the branches. Jesus said in John 15:5 that we are the branches and He is the Vine. And that if we , the branches abide n Him-that is we are vitally connected to Him, sharing the life and ability and nature that flows in the Vine, then we bear much fruit.

We are the fruit-bearing part of the Vine. The Vine itself does not bear fruit even though the nourishment, the nutrients and the life that the branches need to bear fruit flows from the Vine. Jesus is the Vine and the Vine does not bear fruit. It is the branches that bear the fruit. With the enablement from the Holy Spirit, we the branches of the Vine, bear the fruit.

Galatians 5:22 gives us the fruit that grows in our life because of the Christ-life within us. The church has taught the do’s and the don’ts of a holy living when it should have taught the Power of the Christ-life or the Vine-life that flow through the believer because of the nature and the ability of God. This means that the fruit of the spirit does not grow because of our effort but because of the Life of God that flows through us by the Holy Spirit. We overcome sin, walk in love, develop joy and patience simply by spending more time in the Presense of the Lord.

Manifestation of His Presense-The Cloud of Glory

Venue : WOF, Johor Bahru, Time :8.00 -11.30 pm
Extended Prayer and Worship

Acts 2, Hebrew 6, Hebrews 10

We had our extended time of prayer and worship at WOF and present were almost 20 of our believers. After a time of worship I felt led to share a portion of scripture from Hebrews 6 which speaks of Paul exhorting the recipients of the letter to obtained the promises of God through faith and patience. In a busy and an instant society that we live -instant burgers, instant coffee, instant this and instant that, we as Christians are missing out on what the Lord wants to release on us because of this attitude.

Impatience to wait, the lack of stick -ability and commitment of the part of the believer-seems to be the great failure to see our prayers answered and receiving the miracle that we believing for.

I also shared during this strong initial session of prayer time, a testimony a woman and her deformed son who received a miracle-in fact 27 miracles in 10-15 minutes because of her persistence. I continued to encourage our believers in WOF to have the tenacity to walk with God and to have a fighting spirit. As I was about to finish these session, I sensed and felt a strong, powerful anointing coming upon me and the presense of the Lord was tangible among us.
By this time it was almost 9.45 pm, and we entered into time of worship and to wait upon the Lord. The was obviously a tangible presense in the hall. Every one was in attitude of prayer and worship when I had an impression to be quiet in the presense of the Lord. As we waited quietly, the Lord began to move in prophecy and vision.

One of the sisters said that she saw in a vision the Lord Jesus coming from the back of the church hall and dressed as a high priest and representing us as intercessor and advocate before the Father. As He move towards the front portion of the hall, the glory of the Lord like a thick cloud was enveloping the people The whole place was full of smoke. One of our youth girls, who was was sitting near the pulpit area testified that she has a kind of heavy blanket or something weighty coming on her and she was pressed down almost to the floor in worship. She said that tears were flowing freely as she worshipped. Some who sat nearby experienced similar things.

As we continued on in this attitude of prayer, the Lord began to show me a vision too. In that vision I saw a scroll that was in the hands of the Lord. Written on the scroll in numerical succession, were all the accusations that satan and his hosts bringing against the believer. Also written, were the accusations of others, and even our own accusations about ourselves. As He was opening up the scroll, I saw drops of blood falling on the scroll and blotting out the accusations one by one. This is the picture of the precious blood of Jesus that cleanses us and sets us free from all condemnation and guilt. Then I saw in my spirit a fountain that is filled with blood flooding that scroll and literally washing it away. There is power in the Blood to loose us from every guilty stain. Others also experienced different visions and words of encouragement from the Lord.

After a break, we moved into time of praying in tongues. As we began to explore the different areas of praying in the spirit, the Lord, began to move us deeper in the spirit-singing in tongues, praying rapidly in tongues, praying in warfare tongues. As we were finishing this session, we all sensed a tremendous building up of our inner man into greater capacity to receive from the Lord.

We are believing God for more of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in our church.

Its been really great writing some of these truths from God's Word. Hope You have enjoyed it and applied in your daily walk. God bless you.

God's Man of Faith and Power

A.A. Allen "Man of Faith and Power"

A. A. Allen was one of the most important of the Healing Evangelists of the "Voice of Healing Revival" Though severely criticized by denominational leaders, denounced by the media and slandered by many others for his sensational ways, God used A. A. Allen mightily to heal thousands and to even launch other ministries such as Gordon Lindsay and T. L. Osborn. Let his story remind you God is no respecter of persons and to the person who seeks Him, He will answer.
Asa Alonzo Allen was born into a severely dysfunctional family on March 27, 1911. His parents were fighting drunks who entertained themselves by giving their children liquor and watching their drunken antics until they passed out. As a result all the children grew up as alcoholics. Allen had two brothers, one of which died a drunkards death. Allen ran away from home at 14 to live the vagabond life free of the horrendous home life he lived but continued in the drinking and smoking that almost killed him.
Later, back again with his mother on a farm in the country, they opened up a dance hall fueled with home brew they made in the back. Just down the road was a man called Brother Hunter who was opening up a Pentecostal Church who was praying against the dance hall of the Allen’s. Eventually Allen, who was miserable with his drunken life, saw the life in the Church and accepted Christ as his Savior. Finally at a Pentecostal camp meeting in Oklahoma Allen met received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues.
During the height of the depression, while in Colorado with his new wife Lexie, Allen started A. A. Allen ministries on a shoestring and a prayer. They often recorded special offerings for the pastor of 35 cents to as little as 5 cents. They chopped wood and sold it to make money to live on while the offerings bought gas to get from meeting to meeting. It was during these meetings Allen learned the power of prayer. Following prayer he had as many as 30 to 60 people saved at meetings where there were many times only as many people as that!
In the late 1930s Allen accepted a pastorate at the Tower Assembly of God in Holly Colorado. It was while there Allen’s spirit was pricked to seek the secret of God’s power. Fasting was new to Allen and he had great difficulty in following through. But one time when he had prematurely broken a fast the Holy Spirit convicted him at the first mouthful and he went back to his prayer closet and told his wife to lock him in. Here Allen relates his experience.
"I began to realize that the light that was filling my prayer closet was God’s glory! The presence of God was so real and powerful that I felt I would die right there on my knees….Then, like a whirlwind, I heard His voice. It was God! He was speaking to me! This was the glorious answer that I had sought so diligently and for which I had waited since my conversion at the age of twenty three….It seemed faster than any human could possibly speak, faster than I could follow mentally, God was talking to me…. God was giving me a list of the things which stood between me and the power of God. After each new requirement was added to the list in my mind, there followed a brief explanation, or sermonette, explaining that requirement and its importance….As God spoke to me I wrote them down…..When the last requirement was written down on the list, God spoke once again and said. ‘This is the answer. When you have placed on the alter of consecration and obedience the last thing on your list, you shall not only heal the sick, but in my name shall you cast out devils, you shall see many mighty miracles as in my name you preach the Word, for behold, I give you power over all the power of the enemy.’
"God revealed to me at the same time that the things that were hindrances to my ministry were that same things which were hindering so many thousands of others.
"At last, here was the price I must pay for the power of God in my life and ministry. The price tag for the miracle working power of God!"
God gave Allen thirteen things he had to understand and do to receive the power of God in his ministry.
He must realize he couldn’t do greater quality miracles than Jesus
He could walk as Jesus walked
He must be blameless like God Himself
He must measure himself to Jesus alone
He must deny his fleshly desires with fasting.
After self denial, he must follow Jesus seven days a week
Without God he could do nothing!
He must do away with sin in his body.
He must not continue in shallow, pointless discussions.
He must give his body wholly to God forever.
He must believe all of God’s promises.
The remaining two guidelines were personal sins Allen felt he need not share with anyone.
It was shortly after that visit the Allen was tested when in a service a miner came forward who had been blinded by an mine explosion. After prayer the man’s sight was completely restored. The ministry of A. A. Allen had started and what a mighty outflow of God’s power it was.
If you could see the Church as God sees it you would be on your face with weeping and fasting. The Church of God is full of people with one foot in the church and one foot in the world. I recently was at a electrical show and I met a man in the booth next to mine. He was a bit disgruntled with some people who had come by and asked for free equipment. He said some very vile things about them under his breath to me. I was not shocked as the world acts like that. We can expect no better from them. Later that day I mentioned that I had played softball on some church co-ed leagues. He proudly told me about him being the leader of his church’s co-ed softball team and how they would pray for some non-Christian members before a game to mind what they said. Now I was shocked, because I have reason to expect a believer to be different than the world. I grieve for this man and the thousands others who are fighting the battle with much of their armor off. I pray for him that he might learn more of my sweet Jesus and his wonders in our lives.
The enemy works double time to undermine, steal, kill and destroy. The Church of God must wake up and realize the holy battle we are in. Men’s souls are at stake. Millions launch into a fiery hell every moment. The place where the Christian must be is in the prayer closet. When you see how much God overcame in A. A. Allen’s life you can see that He can use anyone to do his wonders!!
Beloved, have you sought God’s highest and best for yourself? Have you fasted and prayed with your soul in anguish to have the Holy One speak to you? Do you have a list like the one above you must work through to gain the presence and power of God in your life and ministry? Seek Him today and He will answer!!

Signs, Wonders and Miracles in His Name

Heal the Sick, Speak in New Tongues, Cast our Devil in the Name of Jesus

Mar 16:15-18
(15) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.
(16) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned.
(17) And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
(18) they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

..these signs shall accompany them that believe…

Just before Jesus ascended to the Father and sat down at Majesty on High, He gave the disclips the Great Commission of World Evangelization. His disciples were to go to the ends of the earth and preach the gospel to every tribe, nation and tongue that the nations represent.

They were not to do these themselves. In these verses Jesus is giving us His part in the great mandate to the church. He is to be with us in the power and authority of His Name. Every time the church is to use that Name-He is will be there in presense to confirm the Word preached with signs and wonders following. The church as a whole has not major and mastered this subject of the authority that in behind the Name of Jesus. Some of us need to study the scriptures and get hold the revelation and begin to act and use the name for the benefit of those who are suffering in sin, sickness and poverty.

In that Name we are to speak with new tongues. The Baptism of the Holy Sprit and the evidence of speaking in tongues are released in us through that name. He has given us authority over demons powers and works of darkness over lives that bound by them. That power is released when we command demonic spirits in His Name.

The Name of Jesus has authority to heal the sick. The ability of God to heal the worst kind of diseases when the believer whispers the name of Jesus in faith. And finally “…nothing by any means hurt them..” belongs to us whether individually or corporately in the church.

Tongues : The Benefit

Praying in the Spirit: A Psychiatrist’s report

This message is not directly about prophecy, but is indirectly, to help one find needed "edification" in this troubled world. Do you sometimes need edifying? If not, you are the only one on planet Earth. God has provided a way.

According to the Holy Spirit, speaking through the apostle Paul: "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself…" (1 Corinthians 14:4).

The main purpose of this message is to pass along a report by a Christian psychiatrist of the physically edifying effects of praying in tongues. We always thought of the edification as only "spiritual" edification, which is great and always needed, but Christian psychiatrist Carl R. Peterson, M.D. describes physical edification also! Isn’t God amazing? I first heard about this for several months ago but was only recently able to obtain this documentation from Dr. Peterson’s office, which is below.

A word of caution. This manifestation of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, is ridiculed by some and called gibberish, or from the devil. Be careful. This is dangerous and might be considered blasphemy against the Holy One. Not a good idea, if you know what I mean. If anyone does that, you don’t want to be standing next to him in a thunderstorm.

As a matter of reference, I know a distinguished medical doctor who knows Dr. Peterson personally and has worked with him, and who says that Peterson is highly respected, as a psychiatrist and as a Christian.

NOTE: Dr. Peterson begins his attachment by specifically referring to "praying in the spirit" (glossolalia -- speaking in tongues), then begins to just use the words "prayer" or "praying." I am told that throughout his paper he is referring to speaking in tongues, as that is the context of the whole paper, and is as introduced by his letter.

Dear friend,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the relationship of extended periods of praying in tongues and joyful laughter to brain activity. As you will read in the enclosed explanation, I shared some information concerning this with several ministers at a gathering some time ago. I pray this information will be helpful to you.

Respectfully,
Carl R. Peterson, M.D.Psychiatrist

EFFECTS OF EXTENDED VERBAL PRAYER AND JOYFUL LAUGHTER

I have had a number of inquiries concerning the efficacy of praying in the spirit (glossolalia) and its benefit to the human immune system, i.e., immunity enhanced by chemicals released from a part of the brain. I am attempting to clarify some information I have shared with a number of ministers. This is information that may be deduced from what we know about the way the brain functions. We do know the part of the brain affected most noticeably by extended prayer and laughter represents a significant portion of the brain and its metabolic activity. Therefore, voluntary speech during extended vocal prayer causes a major stimulation in these parts of the brain (mainly the hypothalamus). The hypothalamus has direct regulation of four major systems of the body, mainly: a) the pituitary gland and all target endocrine glands; b) the total immune system; c) the entire autonomic system; and d) the production of brain hormones called endorphins and enkephalons, which are chemicals the body produces and are 100-200 times more powerful than morphine.

In summary, a very significant percentage of the central nervous system is directly and indirectly activated in the process of extended verbal and musical prayer over a period of time. This results in a significant release of brain hormones which, in turn, increases the body’s general immunity. It is further enhanced through joyful laughter with increased respirations and oxygen intake to the brain, diaphragm and other muscles. This same phenomenon is seen in physical activity in general, i.e., running, etc.

We know from the Word of God that there is a true joy that builds and sustains. Nehemiah tells us the joy of the Lord is our strength. There is joy in the presence of Jehovah. We, as believers having entered into that wonderful presence of our Lord, know this to be true. What we must continue to remember is that the joy of the Lord spoken of in the Word is so much more than any manifestation. We can truly have that unspeakable joy in the face of any trials we may encounter, if our joy is grounded in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I hope the above information helps to clarify the report you received regarding my statement in the area of the physical effects of speaking in tongues and joyful laughter for extended periods of time. Truly, we all benefit—body, soul, and spirit—from obedience and yielding to the Spirit of God in every area of our lives.

Confession Brings Possesion

Introduction

Christianity is called the Great Confession. In Hebrews 4:14 we are told to hold fast to our confession. When we think of confession is generally think of it as confession of our sins. That is the negative side of confession. In these scriptures and others in the epistles of Paul, we find the positive side of confession.

What is the positive side of confession based upon the Word of God. What am to hold fast to as the Hebrew writer says. I am to hold fast to the confession of the absolute integrity of the Bible. I am to hold fast to the confession of the redemption in Christ. I am to hold fast to the confession of the New Creation and of receiving the Life and Nature of the Father.

I am to hold fast to the confession that God is the strength of my life. I am to hold fast to the confession that “Surely He hath borne my sicknesses and carried my diseases and that by His stripes I am healed.

In the church world today, there is a lack teaching and instruction on this line which leads to many believers live lives with a continual sense of failure and defeat. If we want to have a better life, change our present situation the first place to make changes is to change in the area of our confession or the things that we say.

Every time that you confess disease, weakness and failure , you magnify the adversary above the Father and destroy you own confidence in the Word.
You are to hold fast to your confession in the face apparent defeat. Stand by your confession that the Father will make it good in your life and through thick and thin, you will see the things you are believing for will come to pass.

Days of Elijah

This song by Mark Robin sung in this clip by Paul Wilbur here at a worship conference is actually a song speaks of the days that we are living in the last days. These are prophetic days and moments where the Word of the LORD is spoken in power and strength. The nations of the earth will awaken to the fact that His Word is forever settled in heaven and it is established on the earth as we as Christians rise up in our prophetic destinies.

These are the days of Elijah.. declaring the Word of the Lord ...days of Moses righteousness being restored.. The days we are living in God through the Holy Spirit restores to man the revelation of New Covenant Righteousness. The righteousness of God in Christ Jesus is not some thing that we work at or based on our performance but on the precious blood of the lamb of God.

Let faith arise as we sing this song to the Lord and declare it to the principalities and powers of the air that JESUS IS KING!!!!!!!

Living a Worry Free Life

Scripture : 1 Peter 5:7

In the world that we live in, with the pressures and demands that surrounds us-worry seems to be a norm. With the pressure a earning a living, providing for the family, and paying the bills and hordes of other things that cries for our attention, we need a solution for this age-long problem. But the Bible calls worry a sin. As Christians , God wants us to live a worry-free life.

In 1 Peter 5:7 the the apostle Peter encourages the believer in Christ to cast the total of our cares, worries, anxieties and concerns to the Lord. He cares for us. He does really care for us. Nothing is to small that our Great Father God does know about it. He is concern about the the details of our lives. But most of the time, we have difficulty believing that.

This is because the enemy of our soul wants to burden and load us with the cares of this life. And wants us to believe that we are alone in dealing with daily conflicts that we face. Peter goes on to exhort "...resist him steadfast in the Faith..". Worry need to be resisted just like we would resist an enemy. Keeping our minds and hearts worry free is the key in the seeing the blessings of the Lord flowing abundantly in our lives.

So let me encourage in the Lord to let the peace of God guard your minds and hearts in Christ Jesus as a garrison of soldiers in a turbulent country. Praise the Lord

New Covenant Prayer

Releasing the Resources of Heaven
through the Name of Jesus

Part 2

b. Ask…Receive…that your joy may be full.

We in the New Covenant have the joy of “praying to the Father in Jesus name” and have the Father grant or give us what we pray for. This assurance we have from the Lord Jesus who is the surety and guarantee of the redemption.

When we receive the answers for our prayers, we can have joy because we received what we have prayed for. Our joy will not be full if our loved ones are sick or our bills are unpaid, financial burdens pressing us. You can’t have joy when these things overloading us. But when you ask God to supply your need and you believe that you have received, your joy can be full. So ask the Father what you need that you joy may be overflowing. This our prayer privilege as in the New Covenant. God wants you full of joy and receiving what you prayed for.

c. Joy before Results

Many times in our walk with the Lord you have to have joy before you receive what you pray for. If you worrying and anxious trying to figure out matters alone, you hinder God from helping you meet you need. Allow him to carry your burdens instead of carrying it yourself.

Ephesians 5:20 gives us the rule to prayer. That is to pray or give thanks in the nameof Jesus to the Father. When we come to the Father in Jesus name we have what we pray for and we will not come empty handed.

New Covenant Prayer

Releasing the Resources of Heaven
Through the Name of Jesus

Part 1

Let us look at the text from the Bible. Reading from John 16:23, 23:

The Name of Jesus gives the believer access to the throne of Father. It is the key that unlocks heaven’s resources and meets every need on the earth.

The disciples were told by Jesus to pray to the Father in His name. For our prayers to reach heaven and heard before the Father, we must come through the key of the name of Jesus.

Jesus is at the right hand of the Father as our Mediator, Intercessor, Advocate and Lord. That is His present day ministry at the throne for the new creation.

You shall ask nothing in my name

This day that He is speaking about is the day when He is raised from the dead and seated at the right hand of the Father as our Great High Priest and Lord. “In that day you shall not pray to me…” He is telling them not to pray or ask Him. IN the Old Covenant, it was a norm for the Israelite to ask and present his needs to the priests or the High priests who were serving in the temple.

But now Jesus is giving the guidelines for New Covenant praying. Praying to the Father in His name.

This is where the church has missed it. New Covenant prayers are prayed based upon the rules and guidelines that Jesus has given to us.

Weapon of Praise

The life that counts must hopeful be,In darkest night make melody,Must wait the dawn on bended knee-This is the life that counts..'

Darkest night? Melody? Could God be serious? I reached for the concordance to check this strange link - darkness and melody? Somewhere in the recesses of my memory were the familiar words... 'a song in the night'; perhaps it was scriptural...There it was, Job 35:10; 'Where is God my Maker, Who gives songs of REJOICING in the night?' (my emphasis)...then;'who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens'...mmm, I'd just been discussing lately the 'wisdom' of animals; how the animals in the tsunami-hit countries had fled for the hills beforehand knowing what was coming. Job 36:33 had told me; 'the cattle are told of His coming storm'. They were tuned in with God I believed and after all, if He made them why wouldn't they be? My mother had always told me that cows knew when an earthquake was imminent. They just 'knew' she'd said. Then there were the rats that I'd read of recently who REFUSED to eat GE (genetically engineered) food. These rats that were then force fed the new 'man made' or 'fiddled with' food as I call it, died! I'd learned (eventually) in my Christian walk that He was wiser and more clever than I (given He'd made me AND my brain!); I say eventually because it took a little while of trying out my own wisdom and falling over a few times to see it; so with this new revelation concerning night time and songs and the fact that He teaches us more than the beasts - then like diamonds it was worth digging for. I'd also read somewhere that diamonds were made under pressure and heat, so when pressure and heat came into my life, God was BOUND to produce some jewel of wisdom in my life...ouch! Although I knew I should 'rejoice' when I encountered trials and temptations (James 1:2), I was still finding this a little difficult to do, to say the very least. Now, Isaiah 54:1; that link again I mused;'Sing, O BARREN, you who did NOT bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud' (my emphases again); here He was joining the trial place with singing again. I flicked also to Psalm 42:7 and 8; 'All Your breakers and Your rolling waves have gone over me. Yet the Lord will command His loving-kindness in the daytime, and IN THE NIGHT His song shall be with me, a prayer to the God of my life'. The song sprang to mind taken from Isaiah 61:3 (Amplified Bible), 'put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness'. This scripture read; 'The Spirit of the Lord would 'grant [consolation and joy] to those who MOURN; beauty instead of ASHES, the oil of joy for MOURNING, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a HEAVY BURDENED OR FAILING SPIRIT, that HE may be glorified.' This was it then; the Lord God TRANSFORMS things... excited, I glanced across the page and read in chapter 60:17-20, ...gold instead of bronze; peace instead of tyranny; Salvation and Praise instead of devastation or destruction; the days of mourning will one day end. I thought then, of how in the Old Testament when the armies of Israel went into battle, the singers and musicians went in front; what more peculiar order could there be than this? Singers in front with NO WEAPONS? But the scriptures reveal that against all odds the Israelites ALWAYS won, that is of course, IF THEY OBEYED. When God said to sing, they sang. When He said be silent (as when they encircled Jericho awaiting its destruction), they kept silent. They won against all natural odds; not spiritual odds because there is no such thing in God's economy. And here was my 'jewel'; obey God and sing and He will transform me in the trial, and often but not ALWAYS, He will change the circumstances as well!Isn't that just like my faithful God? Like Miriam, when God had parted the sea to let the Israelites pass through, then miraculously destroyed their enemies, I too could joyfully sing;Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods?...glorious in holiness, awesome in splendour, doing wonders?

The Hidden Man of the Heart

The Hidden Man of the Heart

(1Pe 3:4) but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, the meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the sight of God.

2Cor 4:16, Eph 2:15, Rom 6:6

These series of studies on the “Hidden man of the Heart” is the delving into the the realm the recreated human spirit. It is the search for the secret of real spirituality. It the recognition that the real man is not the man of the senses or the reasoning function the human personality but that it the recreated spirit that has received the life and the nature of the Father.

The passages of scriptures above, the spirit man is refer to as inward man, outer man, old man, hidden man. Hidden means he is concealed or hidden from the physical sense, that is to say the he is shut away from the physical natural man.

The church as a whole is not familiar with the recreated spirit. We have develop our bodies and our minds to the extend that it becomes beneficial to us. But as for the real man – the recreated spirit, the church is still in the stage of infancy in the development of the forces of the spirit.

The thing that we call conscience is actually the voice of the spirit. When we learn how to develop this faculty of the the spirit-the recreated spirit-and keep in vital fellowship with the Father through the Word, there is no limit to where we can go in spiritual things.

The Holy Spirit was given to us to lead us. The primary way that He leads us is through the inward witness or the inward man within. Your spirit corporation with the Holy Spirit brings light-love-life flowing in your life.

Galatians 5:22-23 mentions the fruit of the recreated spirit. Love, joy and peace are the forces of the human spirit that comes into the believer when he receives eternal life and the nature of God.

The secret of the life of being led by the Spirit is to know the truth the Bible reveals regarding the Inward or the inner man. The more we get acquainted with man – the real man- the recreated spirit –walking the spirit is no longer a mystery.

It is something that becomes a reality of a daily basis

1. Man created a spirit, soul and body

Read the following scriptures as a foundation for this section:

Genesis 1:26, 27-2:7
John 4:24
2 Cor 5:17
Heb 12:9
Heb 12:22-24

Man was made in God’s class. The Word of God says the God is a Spirit. He is made in the image and the likeness of God. God, a Spirit created man in His own image. Man, therefore, was created or made a spirit in God’s class. God‘s image is spirit and man was made in that image, also a spirit being.

Just like God is eternal, man is also an eternal being. Man was created a companion and associate of God. He was made to rule over all the creation. When man sinned against God I the Garden of Eden, man partook of Satan nature which is spiritual death.

Eph 2:1-4

Before the fall, man’s spirit ruled the human personality and the body and the mind of man was under subjection and the control of the spirit of man. When he sinned, his spirit received the nature of the adversary and became subjected to the body. Since then the human personality was ruled by the senses.

The spirit was being made the prisoner of the five senses. Since then, there has been a cry form the spirit of man to be free. A cry for freedom to be restored to the original state before the fall to rule over the body once again.

2. The names of the spirit man

In Ephesians 4:23-25 he is called the “old man”. He is also referred to as the inward and the hidden man of the heart in Romans 7:22 and 2 Peter 3:4.

When a man comes to Jesus and receives him as savior and Lord the Holy Spirit recreates the spirit into a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 mentions emphatically that this recreated spirit is a new creation in Christ Jesus-a new species of being which existed before.

The real man is the spirit man or the hidden man of the heart.
The person who was recreated was not the mind or the body but it is the spirit of man. It was this man that was recreated in Christ Jesus.

3. Prophecy of a New Creation

Ezekiel 36:26

Man is going to be recreated. The nature of Satan or the sin nature is to be taken out of him. He will no longer be called “old man” but called a “new man” in Christ.

He is to be a new creation in Christ Jesus.

The new creation came into being on the day of Pentecost and has the ability to stand before the Father as though as sin has never been. 2 Cor 5:21, Romans 8:1, 2; Romans 8:37-39

The New Creation ahs become the righteousness of God. The spirit man was recreated by the Holy Spirit in the New Birth had the nature of God imparted to him. 2 Peter 1:4
